Sport Relief 2008 was presented by Richard Hammond, Gary Lineker, Davina McCall, Patrick Kielty and Claudia Winkleman brought together the BBC's biggest brands in a huge celebration to try and top 2006's fund-raising total of £18million.
The star studded night of entertainment included Sport Relief Does Strictly Come Dancing featuring Mark Ramprakash, Eastenders star Kara Tointon, Elaine Paige and football heartthrob David Ginola.
Jonathan Ross went head to head with Sir Michael Parkinson for a very special Friday night with Jonathan Ross and took on Jimmy Carr in a celebrity tennis match at the Albert Hall. Other highlights included Sport Relief does the Apprentice, the Top Gear team embarking on makeover madness; Leona Lewis performing the Sport Relief single, comedian Alan Carr taking on the Arsenal ladies football team; the golden boy of Breakfast TV Ben Shephard squaring-up to soul singer Lemar over 3 gruelling rounds in the boxing ring and Jimmy Carr hosting a very special one-off edition of A Question of Sport Relief.
The night also saw the culmination of the Sport Relief Super Cycle as football legend Alan Shearer and Adrian Chiles completed their cycling challenge from Newcastle to London live in the studio and we also found out how James Cracknell with the help of David Walliams completed one of the most difficult sporting challenges ever as he took on a triathlon from England to Africa. Chappers & Dave also completed their Radio One Challenge live in the studio.
And as ever, you the viewers to rose to the challenge to make the difference. An incredible £20,747,375 has been raised so far which will go towards helping vulnerable people both at home in the UK and across the world's poorest countries.
